Among the newest round of confirmed panelists is actress and humanitarian Ashley Judd, as well as actress, model and philanthropist Freida Pinto.
Judd has spent more than a decade as an ambassador for Population Services International, traveling the world to bring light to the effects of poverty, social injustice and gender inequality. She recently joined lawmakers in Washington, D.C., to support the International Violence Against Women Act, which calls on the Secretary of State and U.S. Agency of International Development to address the issue of violence against women.
Pinto is a staunch advocate for education and gender equality. Her work as global ambassador for Plan International's Because I Am A Girl campaign has helped support girls' education worldwide, and her recent collaboration with U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim on the Call to Action - Girl Rising campaign showcases the power of education in transforming girls’ lives.
Judd and Pinto will join the following newly announced speakers:
  • Victoria Beckham, UNAIDS International Goodwill Ambassador, entrepreneur and fashion designer
  • Gro Brundtland, special envoy with the United Nations, and the deputy chair of The Elders
  • Graca Machel, politician and humanitarian
  • Kumi Naidoo, executive director of Greenpeace International
  • Martin Fernando Jakobsen, director and founder of Turning Tables
  • Mark Dybul, executive director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria
  • Alek Wek, model, author, entrepreneur and philanthropist
  • Patti Smith, singer-songwriter, poet and visual artist
  • Jesse Paris Smith, composer, pianist, percussionist and cofounder of Tree Factory
  • Matt Petronzio, Social Good Editor, Mashable

  • Lance Ulanoff, Chief Correspondent and Editor-at-Large, Mashable
Last year, the Social Good Summit connected people throughout the world with in-person or online meetings organized by people in their own communities in more than 45 different languages. This year, approximately 100 meetups from around the world will broadcast the summit live, including Liberia, Albania and Guatemala.
This year's summit will address how technology and digital can help to solve global issues including the international refugee crisis, climate change, lack of educational resources, reproductive health and digital literacy. A more detailed agenda can be found here.
The Social Good Summit on Sept. 27 and 28 in New York City will bring together world leaders, grassroots activists and global citizens to not only discuss digital solutions to some of the greatest challenges of our time, but to spur worldwide action.
Together with our partners, including the United Nations Foundation, the UNDP and the 92nd Street Y, we're poised and ready for the 2015 Social Good Summit to be bigger than ever.
